(Milford)– A centenarian will preside over this year’s Milford Pioneer Days Parade. The Milford Commercial Club has selected 102-year-old Ted Carpenter as Grand Marshal of this year’s parade.
Carpenter graduated from Spencer High School in 1941 and moved to St. Louis where he worked before joining the U.S. Navy in 1943. He got married shortly before being honorably discharged in 1945. He and his wife, Sylvia, moved to Milford in 1946 and never left. He worked for a local dairy and worked at H.E Jacobs in Milford. Carpenter and his wife then purchased the Nutty Bar Stand at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park in 1963, along with another couple, operating it for 19 years. Carpenter also drove semi’s.
His wife Sylvia passed away in 2009.
Carpenter was recently recognized by First Lutheran Church for serving as an usher for 50 years. His son, Jim, is the Milford Fire Chief.
The 2025 Pioneer Days Parade will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, July 26th.
