Cause Of Fire At Milford Restaurant Ruled As Accidental

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Investigators say it appears discarded smoking materials that ignited some nearby combustible items was the probable cause of a fire last (Wed.) evening that damaged Mige’s Restaurant in Milford.

That word from David Schipper of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Milford and Arnolds Park/Okoboji firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Schipper says the fire started in an overhang storage area on the northwest corner of the building that’s attached to the main structure. He says the fire spread from there to a cooler/freezer room, where firefighters managed to stop it before it could spread any further.

Fire damage was contained to that part of the building.

The blaze was discovered by a passerby who went into the restaurant and alerted everyone inside. They managed to get out unharmed.

Damage is estimated at 25-thousand dollars.
