(Spencer)—A Rossie woman was killed Tuesday morning when a car she was driving collided with a semi on Highway 71 south of Spencer.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Mindee Wilcox was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty northbound when she lost control on the ice covered road and slid into the path of an oncoming 2009 Kenworth semi driven by 56-year-old Gary Yeager of Hershey, Nebraska.
Wilcox was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported to Yeager.
The collision took place shortly after 9:00 a.m. and resulted in the highway in that area being shut down while authorities investigated and cleaned up the wreckage.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Royal and Spencer Fire and Rescue, the Iowa State Patrol and the Clay County Medical Examiner.
