(Storm Lake)– A car/semi collision Tuesday in Buena Vista county sent one person to the hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol says 53-year-old Timothy Ihry of Peterson was southbound on Highway 71 and was slowing to turn into a farm drive when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a southbound semi driven by 43-year-old Dwayne Hakeneis of Sheldon who was attempting to pass Ihry’s vehicle.
Ihry had to be extricated from his vehicle by mechanical means. He was then taken by ambulance to the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake with non-incapacitating injuries.
No injuries were reported to Hakeneis who was cited for unsafe passing.
A thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1983 Cadillac driven by Ihry; damage to a 1985 International Semi driven by Hakeneis and owned by Graves Construction of Spencer was estimated at 1,500-dollars.
The collision took place shortly before 7:00 a.m.
