(Orange City)– One person was injured in a car-semi collision shortly after 9:00 a.m. this (Fri.) morning at the intersection of Highway 60 and a Sioux county road about four miles south of Orange City.
Authorities say 57-year-old John Lambert of Sioux Falls was driving a 2012 Volvo semi-tractor pulling an enclosed trailer northbound on the county road and had stopped at the intersection with Highway 60. Deputies say Lambert then pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Preston DeBoer of Hartley who was driving a 2003 Ford Escape southbound on Highway 60.
DeBoer was transported by ambulance to the Orange City hospital. There was no immediate word on the extent of his injuries or condition. No injuries were reported to Lambert, who was cited for failure to yield.
$8,000 in damage was estimated to the semi driven by Lambert; about $10,000 in damage was estimated to the car driven by DeBoer.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Alton Fire Department and the Alton Ambulance.
