(Jackson, Mn.)—A five-year-old child has died after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend on the south side of Loon Lake.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 11:20 a.m. Saturday after getting a report that a child had been struck by a vehicle on County Road 4 at Loon Lake.
Authorities say five-year-old Yomi Castillo of Worthington ran out in front of a 2011 Ford Explorer driven by Marjorie Svoboda of rural Jackson.
Castillo was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake where he was pronounced dead.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Authorities say the incident remains under investigation, with the Minnesota State Patrol assisting.
