(Hull)– A Hull teen was injured last Friday when a moped he was driving collided with a parked car.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 16-year-old Luke Barkel of Hull was driving the moped eastbound on 1st Street when he lost control and collided with a parked 2009 Cadillac Escalade.
Barkel was later taken by private vehicle to the Sioux Center Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
$300 in damage was estimated to the moped; damage to the car, owned by Matthew Mayer of Spirit Lake, was put at about $350.
Barkel was cited for no insurance, violation of an instruction permit and failure to maintain control.
The incident took place shortly after 9:30 p.m.
