Car Raffle Raises Money For Clay County 4-H

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Clay County 4-H Endowment has been awarded a 250-dollar prize from the Iowa 4-H Foundation for winning the fundraising challenge for the second annual Iowa 4-H vehicle raffle.

The Iowa 4-H Foundation gave away the “Clover Corolla” which sported a 4-H clover on it. The car was on display during the 2009 Clay County Fair. Volunteers worked each day to raise money for the Iowa 4-H Foundation and the Clay County 4-H endowment.

More than two thousand dollars was raised for Clay County 4-H and 40-thousand was raised for the Iowa 4-H program.

Officials say the fundraising took place at a crucial time as recent budget cuts from the state have impacted the 4-H program statewide.

The car was on display at more than 30 county fairs and events from June through September. The Clay County 4-H program had the highest ticket sales of any county event.

A man from Ankeny won the car.
