(Emmetsburg)– A car fire Sunday in Palo Alto county landed a Pocahontas man in jail on a drunk driving charge.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 4400 block of Highway 4 south of Emmetsburg after getting a report of a vehicle in the ditch that was on fire. Upon arriving they found the vehicle totally engulfed and the driver, 32-year-old Kent Macrunnel of Pocahontas, standing on the shoulder of the road uninjured.
Upon investigating, Macrunnel was placed under arrest for operating motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was booked into jail pending an initial court appearance.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Emmetsburg Police Department and the Palo Alto County Hospital.
