Cable Rates About To Increase

November 22, 2014

(Undated)– Mediacom subscribers can expect to pay more soon.

In a letter officials with area cities, Bill Jensen, the company’s Regional Vice President, says rates for its Family package will increase by two dollars a month; and Star packages, where available, will go up by three dollars a month.

Mediacom officials site the rapidly rising wholesale cost of television content being passed on by programming providers to cable and satellite companies. The letter also cites “the currrent regulatory climate created by Congress 20 years ago that leaves little choice but to raise rates or lose channels.”

In addition, Mediacom officials say its rates for internet service will also be going up. Online Intro, Online 2 and Online Max will increase by $2, $4 and $5 a month, respectively.

The increases are effective on or about September 1st.
