(Storm Lake)– Buena Vista county authorities have released the name of a man killed in an incident Sunday evening near Newell involving an alleged drunk driver.
The victim is identified as 55-year-old Eugene Kruskop of Storm Lake.
Authorities say Kruskop was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 48-year-old William Harms of Storm Lake. Deputies say the vehicle had gone into the ditch and that Kruskop was struck and run over by it as he was trying to get it out.
Kruskop was transported by air to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City where he died of his injuries.
Harms was arrested at the scene and was charged with operating while intoxicated. He was booked into the Buena Vista county jail.
Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
