BV Co. Authorities Release Name Of Juvenile Killed Sunday In Hwy 71 Crash

(Storm Lake)– Authorities in Buena Vista county have released the name of a boy killed this past Sunday in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 71 about a half-mile south of Highway 10.

The victim is identified as 10-year-old Gavin Wrather of Orange City.

Deputies say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the head-on collision involved vehicles driven by 44-year-old Anthony Borkovec of Ruthven and 40-year-old Matthew Wrather of Rembrandt.

Matthew Wrather was life-flighted from the scene to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City; Borkovec was taken by ambulance to Buena Vista Medical Center in Storm Lake.

The collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
