(Spencer)—Construction of a new weight room at Spencer High School is getting a boost from a local car dealership.
Brian Fassbender of H & N Chevrolet in Spencer presented school officials with a check for $7,000 Tuesday. Fassbender says it was raised through a special promotion in which they donated $100 for every vehicle they sold in May. They wound up selling 70.
Fassbender says the dealership had been looking at getting involved in such a promotion and came up with this idea…(click here for comment.) “We were approached by a committee that’s involved in putting this together, the foundation at the high school, and they contacted us and wanted to know if it would be something we’d want to partake and make a donation. We kind of wanted to make it fun and we decided a hundred dollars per vehicle, and to be honest with you we really surpassed our numbers. I wasn’t expecting to be cutting this big of a check, so it’s really exciting that we’re able to do this and it’s a big, big deal I think. It’s,you know, for the community and for Spener, so…”
Fassbender says they were more than pleased with how the promotion went.
