Burglarized Vehicle Results In Charges Against Milford Man

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– A Milford man faces burglary and drug charges in connection with an incident last Thursday in Estherville.

Estherville police say they were called to the Bomgaars parking lot after getting a complaint of a vehicle that was being burglarized. The victim told officers that when he came out of the store, he spotted a male suspect had opened a utility box on his truck and had a number of tools in his arms. The complainant told officers he yelled at the suspect, who then fled on foot.

Estherville police searched for the suspect, utilizing the department’s K-9, Max. The suspect was tracked to a nearby neighborhood where some of the stolen tools were recovered, but the suspect wasn’t located.

The suspect was later identified and Milford police conducted a further investigation. The suspect, 31-year-old John Haisman of Milford, came to the Estherville Police Department where he was arrested for burglary in the third degree…a class “D” felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor. Haisman was booked into the Emmet county jail and was later released after posting a $6,500 cash or surety bond.

Police say the investigation continues and additional charges are pending.
