(Orleans)– A broken natural gas line caused some excitement this (Tuesday) afternoon in Orleans.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch says firefighters were called to 13105 253rd Avenue on the east side of Big Spirit Lake. Kollasch says a contractor digging footings for a house accidentally struck the half-inch line.
Kollasch says some nearby homes were evacuated and traffic was routed around the area for a short time while the gas company pinched off the line and repaired it.
Firefighters stood by as a precaution. They were on the scene about a half-hour.
