Boy Critically Injured In A Spencer House Fire Has Passed Away

April 09, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– A four-year-old boy critically injured in a house fire last week in Spencer has passed away. Todd Watson was still in the residence at 101 De Loss Court when the fire broke out Friday. People on the scene attempted to go into the burning home to rescue the child but were turned back by the extreme fire and smoke. Firefighters knocked down the fire and were able to make entry. The boy was found and was transported by air to a children’s hospital in St. Paul.

A fund for the family has been established at Farmer’s Trust and Savings Bank in Spencer.

The State Fire Marshal has investigated the fire but so far no information on a possible cause has been released.

***UPDATE*** Spencer Fire Chief Jesse Coulson says the cause is officially being listed now as “undetermined”.
