Boy Charged For Allegedly Setting Fire In Barn

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)—A juvenile has been charged after allegedly starting a barn on fire near Royal.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 9:00 p.m. Monday after getting a report of a 13-year-old that had allegedly started a fire inside a barn. Authorities say the boy’s grandfather discovered the fire in roughly a four by six foot section and put it out.

Authorities say the boy had two siblings with him, ages 6 and 10. They weren’t injured.

The 13-year-old was charged with reckless use of fire and was taken to a juvenile detention facility.

Authorities say the incident is still under investigation.
