Blue Star Marker To Be Dedicated In Lake Park

August 30, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Lake Park)– Another Blue Star Marker will be dedicated in Dickinson county this weekend. This one will be located in Lake Park. A dedication is planned for this Sunday, September 1st prior to the A.B.A.T.E Motorcycle Ride at Johnny’s Pub in Lake Park at 12 Noon.

A Blue Star Marker is also located at the intersection of Highways 9 and 71 in Spirit Lake.

The Blue Star Marker program was started in the 1950’s by the National Garden Club to honor veterans of every branch of the military. Five counties in Iowa, including Buena Vista, are Blue Star Counties, meaning every town in that county has a Blue Star marker.
