(Undated)– Some blood collection agencies are hoping residents will give thanks over the Thanksgiving holiday period by donating blood.
The Life Serve Blood Center, formerly the Siouxland Community Blood Bank, will hold a drive Monday, November 19th from 1:30 until 5:30 p.m. at the Milford Community Building.
Life Serve Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 90 hospitals in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
The Red Cross will hold blood drives Monday and Tuesday, November 19th and 20th at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Hours will be from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. Appointments for the Red Cross drives can be made by calling 1-800-733-2767.
Officials with both agencies say blood supplies often drop during the holiday season when many donors are traveling to be with family and friends.
