Blizzard Conditions Impacting All Of The Region

March 15, 2026

(Undated)– Near blizzard to blizzard conditions are impacting travel across a good deal of the area this Sunday morning and will continue through the day and into night.

NO travel is being advised across south central Minnesota, including I-90, due to the severe conditions there. And officials say travel in most other areas is difficult. That includes Dickinson county and the Iowa Great Lakes. Dickinson County Engineer Jeff Rose tells KUOO news/Explore Okoboji no county plows will be going out until conditions improve.

The National Weather Service says an addition 3 to 4 inches of snow could fall during the day today (Sun.) with perhaps another inch or snow tonight before it ends. Some of the precipitation fell very early on in the form of sleet and freezing rain and was accompanied by lightning and thunder.

A blizzard warning is in effect for the entire region until 7:00 am Monday. A high wind warning goes into effect at 10:00 am this (Sun.) morning and will continue until 1:00 am Monday for gusts as high as 60 mph.
