November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported this (Monday) morning when a car was destroyed by fire on the north side of Big Spirit Lake.

Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news Spirit Lake firefighters were called to the area of 25891 105th Street in the Shore Acres area around 10:20 a.m. Upon arriving, Kollasch says firefighters found the car totally engulfed.

The vehicle, a 2000 Buick LeSabre owned by Leslie Walker of Spirit Lake, was a total loss.

Kollasch says a woman who had been driving the car got stuck in some snow. He says it appears the vehicle cuaght on fire as the result of heat generated by friction from spinning the tires trying to get out.

The woman got out of the car uninjured.

Firefighters were on the scene until about Noon.

They were assisted on the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
