(Spencer)– A unique opportunity to learn about production agriculture is returning to this year’s Clay County Fair. Michele Hogrefe of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Clay County, says “Bite By the Barn” is a free program…
“Bite By the Barn is an adult agricultural education program. It’s designed to share good information with your average fairgoer about production agriculture and our food supply that we all have to use.”
Hogrefe says participants will receive educational resources, tasty treats, and free admission to the Clay County Fair the afternoon of the program…
“There are interactive barn tours that are led by different Extension and Outreach specialists and industry experts. There will be snacks and coupons sponsored by local industry partners, and there will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask their ag and food supply questions.”
Hogrefe says registration for this year’s Bite By the Barn is now underway. She says September 5th is the deadline to get signed up…
“They can go to our website at extension.iastate.educlay or they can call our office at 712-262-2264.”
Hogrefe adds the program is limited to 15 to 20 participants.
