(Okoboji)-The Birding on the Green Program will start May 1st. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Nature Center will again offer their Birding on the Green Program starting in May.
Community Relations Coordinator Jackie Jerge says, the program is offered in conjunction with Brooks Golf Club, which is an Audubon International certified course. “Birding on the Green is a great program that we have here at the Dickinson County Nature Center. We partner with Brooks Golf and we travel their greens and go birding. You can be an expert or a novice, it doesn’t matter. Come out and join us in the mornings. We have that program monthly. It’s a really great time to be outside.”
She notes that the program is free and open to the public. “There’s no need to register. We just meet up at the Brooks Golf parking lot a little before 7, meet as a group, and then we caravan out onto the greens to search for those birds. So, no need to register for that, just show up.”
Binoculars will be available. The program will run through September.
