(Okoboji)– Some big changes are in store for what will be the second year of annual fundraiser for the Dickinson County Nature Center.
Sammi Bedell of ArtsLIVE is helping organize this year’s Greenwave Festival. She tells KUOO news they’re expanding the event to two days this year–August 15th and 16th at Kenue Park.
Bedell says the first day will be dedicated primarily to environmental education activities and keynote speakers. She says they’ve already received confirmation from one speaker, Amery Lovens. Lovens is the founder of the “Rocky Mountain Institute”, an environmental action group based out of Colorado. He’s worked with presidents in a number of countries, helping them put together environmental policies. He’s also written a book titled “Winning the Oil End Game”, talking about the importance of the U.S. ending its dependency on foreign oil.
Bedell says the second day of this year’s Greenwave Festival will be dedicated to entertainment. She says a number of music groups from Colorado, Minneapolis and the lakes area will be performing.
This year’s event will also feature a VIP dinner that Saturday evening.
Additional details will be released as the event gets closer.
