(Lake Park)– Plans to re-pave a heavily traveled road in the Lake Park area are moving forward. The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved the low bid of a little more than 2 million dollars to re-pave a stretch of County Road M-27 from Highway 9 north to the former railroad crossing in Lake Park. County Engineer Cole Budach says the project includes removal of the old pavement and putting down a new surface…
“We will be removing all of the existing pavement, sending that to a site to be crushed into about inch and-a-half like gravel material, and then that will be placed back for base and then we’ll be going over the top of it with a nine inch pcc concrete paving following that.”
Budach says the exact timeframe for the project hasn’t been determined yet…
“Right now we don’t have the exact start date because we haven’t had a pre-construction meeting with the contractor yet, but the late start date on the contract is August 15th, 2024, so we do expect it to start this year. The contract has a period of 75 working days. Once we do have a meeting with the contractor we’ll have a better idea on a timeframe. They can start anytime before that August 15th date as well, so I guess here in a couple of weeks we’ll have a better idea once we have that pre-construction meeting with the contractor. But the latest it will start is August 15th.”
Budach says a detour will be in place during the project with traffic being re-routed onto 140th Avenue and some city streets in Lake Park.
