(Spirit Lake)– A bicyclist who was participating on the second day of RAGBRAI died after collapsing along the route while passing through southern Jackson county.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was called around 8:15 am Monday after getting a report of a rider who had collapsed on Jackson County Road 4, just off of Highway 86. A physician, surgeon and a physician’s assistant administered medical assistance at the scene. The man, identified as 54-year-old Kelly Paul of Texas, was then taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he later died.
