Authorities Urge Extra Caution On Rural Roads As Harvest Continues

November 22, 2014

(Orange City)– Authorities say a collision of farm implements earlier this week in Sioux county should serve as a reminder to use extra caution on the road during the harvest.

Deputies say 57-year-old Robert Jager of Ashton was driving a 2008 John Deere Combine eastbound on a county road and 68-year-old Harlan Boone of George was driving a 1998 John Deere tractor pulling two grain wagons westbound. Authorities say Jager failed to yield half of the roadway while meeting Boone, resulting in the combine’s front left tire striking both grain wagons.

Damage to the wagons totaled roughly $14,200; damage to the combine was estimated at $2,500.

No injuries were reported.

Jager was cited for failure to yield half of the roadway while meeting a vehicle.
