Authorities Investigating Fatal Shooting In Emmet County

(Armstrong)– An investigation is underway into a shooting in Emmet county this (Fri.) morning.

Authorities say the Emmet County Communications Center received a 911 call around 6:20 am reporting shots had been fired in the 5400 block of 120th Avenue near Armstrong. The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office responded and found a man with a single gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say there is no danger to the public, adding that the investigation is ongoing and that no other information is being released as of now.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the probe along with the Iowa State Patrol. The Armstrong Ambulance Service and Emmet County Medical Examiner assisted on the scene.
