(Spirit Lake)– An investigation is underway into the death of a woman last week who wandered from an assisted living facility in Spirit Lake.
A press release from the Spirit Lake Police Department says officers were called to Keelson Harbour Assisted Living Facility December 9th after getting a report of a woman who had been found deceased outside of the building. The release says an initial investigation revealed the elderly female resident of the facility had made her way outside during the evening hours.
Police say the State Office of Inspection and Appeals is assisting in the investigation.
They add the death is believed to be unintentional.
