March 11, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Alpha)- The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call over a stolen vehicle on Saturday at 8:13 am near Alpha, reporting that a 2023 Ford F-150 was just stolen from a rural address. The caller reported watching an unknown white male walk around their yard who kept pulling a hood over his head in an obvious attempt to hide his face. He then stole the F-150 and traveled south on County Road 29 from Alpha. The homeowner later discovered other property had been stolen as well.A 2013 GMC Sierra pickup was left behind in their yard by the male. After investigating, the deputy learned that that pickup was stolen from an incident in Blue Earth County last week. Those details include: Around 1:00 AM on March 5, Blue Earth County deputies responded to western Blue Earth County in search of a vehicle that fled from Brown County deputies earlier. Blue Earth deputies located the suspect vehicle near Lake Crystal. The driver again refused to stop resulting in an additional pursuit west of Lake Crystal. Deputies deployed a stop stick which disabled the vehicle, however, the driver fled on foot and was not located.

A GMC Sierra pickup was later reported stolen from a property in the same rural Lake Crystal area where the driver fled on foot. Another neighbor in the area reported missing numerous items from their outbuildings as well. This stolen GMC Sierra pickup from Blue Earth County is the pickup that was left behind in the farmyard near Alpha.

25-year-old Sean Vanmeveren of Garvin, Minnesota, is the suspect in the Blue Earth County pursuit and theft of the GMC Sierra from rural Lake Crystal. He is wanted on warrants out of Redwood county and several other counties in southwest Minnesota.

While the deputy was investigating the theft of the 2023 F-150, he learned that another neighbor had also discovered someone had been in their outbuildings and stole numerous items. That matter remains under investigation.

While the deputy continued his investigation, Martin County and Emmet County, Iowa law enforcement were searching for the stolen 2023 F-150 from rural Alpha. It was located a short time later at a rural farm site south of Dunnell on the Martin County/Emmet County line. It had been abandoned and a 2012 GMC Sierra pickup with Iowa plates was stolen from that rural residence.

Vanmeveren is also the suspect in the rural Alpha vehicle and property thefts. He is believed to be armed and dangerous and is in possession of several stolen guns.
