Assisted Living Center Announces Expansion Project

(Sheldon)—An assisted living center in Sheldon has announced plans for a substantial expansion.

Officials with Fieldcrest Assisted Living Center say the $3.4 million dollar project will result in 25 new units, 13 assisted living units and 12 memory care units. They say the expansion will also result in 13 new full time jobs.

The city has agreed to extend utilities to the site and plans to develop 16 residential lots on land adjacent to the facility. Officials with the city of Sheldon say it’s the first of several projects scheduled for the upcoming summer in which the city will invest a little more than $8.2 million. Other projects include a downtown streetscape project, the Trilogy Housing Development consisting of 16 residential lots, the Sheldon Crossing Housing Development consisting of 57 residential lots, a widening and overlay of Highway 18, improvements to East 9th Street, a new well, and various street repair and overlay projects.
