Arrests Made In Connection With Graettinger Assault Case

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)—A Graettinger man has been charged in connection with an assault that allegedly took place back on June 16th.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to 301 South Cameron Street in Graettinger after getting a report of a disturbance.

Authorities say a person at that location had been seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital for medical treatment.

The victim’s name wasn’t released.

An investigation resulted in 77-year-old Richard Schany being arrested and charged with willful injury assault…a class “D” felony.

Schany was arrested June 17th without incident and was booked into jail. He was later released on bond.

Also arrested at the scene on June 16th was 23-year-old Dallas Traver of Graettinger for violation of post conviction release conditions. He was booked into the Palo Alto county jail and is being held pending disposition of his conviction on prior charges.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.
