Arnolds Park Receives “Tree City” Designation

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A lakes area community is being recognized for its commitment to improving the environment by planting trees.

Arnolds Park has received a “Tree City” designation through the Arbor Day Foundation for the 10th consecutive year.

The city had to meet four criteria to be eligible. They include having a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

The city was also recognized through the designation for education and public relations, literature distribution, for holding a community-wide tree event, tree planting and maintenance, and for a special tree planting project.
