(Sioux Falls) –
The Arnold’s Park and Okoboji Fire and Rescue Dive Team responded to an aid request in connection with the search for drowning victims in a tragic incident which occurred last week, when 6 year old Garrett Wallace fell into the Big Sioux River at Falls Park in Sioux Falls on Thursday. The boy was able to get out of the river, however his sister Madison, age 16 and bystander 28 year old Lyle Eagle Tail perished after jumping in to try to save the boy.
Madison Wallaces’s body was recovered on Friday, and the request was made for Divers on Saturday. Upon arrival, crews were informed of the details and given an assigned area to search for the body of Eagle Tail. The team remained on scene until the body was located at about 2 pm on Saturday.
