(Arnolds Park)– As we’ve reported previously the upcoming construction of a new city complex in Arnolds Park is going to require the temporary relocation of city offices. Starting later this summer, the Police and Fire Departments will be operating out of the former Overhead Door Sales location, and the library will temporarily relocate to the Lakes Center Mall. The library is currently closed in preparation for the move, scheduled for late May. City Councilman John Adams also serves on the city’s building committee. He tells KUOO news they’re still looking at options for the temporary relocation of the city business office, but he says they have ruled out one possibility in particular…
“The original we thought was maybe the construction company would build a trailer and they would go in that and be right next to the construction, which if you stop and think about it, it would be rather noisy and it would be kind of cramped.”
Adams says they continue to look at other possible locations. He says they HAVE made arrangements as to where city council meetings will be held while construction is underway…
“The city council meetings, the P & Z meetings, Board of Adjustment, Personnel Committee meetings, will be here in the Chamber offices and as I said before we thank the Chamber very much for this.”
Adams expressed his gratitude to city workers for their flexibility…
“We had meetings with them. Once we picked the space went over things with them, what did they like about the space, what would they recommend, trying to stay in touch with everything that they wanted, and they, all four departments, have just you know, shall we say we all bit the bullet because this is going to be a big project and they are moving from their homes for 13 months to do it but in order to make the move to 13 months as I said instead of two years and saving, you know, three quarters of a million dollars for the city, we felt this is just the very wise and prudent way to go.”
Demolition of the current city hall is scheduled to start in August.
