(Milford)– An Arnolds Park man faces multiple charges in connection with items stolen from vehicles parked in a church parking lot.
Milford police say it all started shortly before 10:00 a.m. Sunday when officers were called to the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot regarding a male subject that had allegedly been seen breaking into vehicles. Upon arriving a witness told police he saw billfolds, purses and other items on the ground. The witness said as he approached his vehicle he saw a taller white male with shorter hair and a goatee run from the parking lot.
A short time later the Dickinson County Communications Center received a call of a subject matching that description that had allegedly just stolen a bicycle from a residence on 16th Street in Milford. The caller followed the suspect, and police caught up with him near the bike trail in Milford.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Brandon Anderson of Arnolds Park, was arrested and charged with seven counts of burglary in third degree…aggravated misdemeanors; one count of criminal mischief multiple acts…a class “D” felony; one count of theft in the fourth degree…a serious misdemeanor; one count of theft in the fifth degree…a simple misdemeanor; and public intoxication…second offense.
Anderson was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
Milford police were assisted by the Dickinson County Communications Center, Arnolds Park Police Department and the Spirit Lake Police Department’s K-9 Unit.
Authorities thank the two witnesses who observed the suspect for calling the Communications Center and to those who helped clean up the vehicles and parking lot.
