Arnolds Park Council Adopts Ordinance Regulating Taxi Companies

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Owners and operators of taxi services in one lakes area community will soon have to meet certain regulations if they want to stay in business.

The Arnolds Park city council Wednesday adopted an ordinance to that affect. City Administrator Ron Walker says the council wanted to level the playing field among the sudden proliferation of taxi operations in the lakes area.

Under the ordinance, owners of taxi services doing business in Arnolds Park will have to obtain a permit from the city. In the process of doing that, they’ll have to prove they have atleast a certain amount of insurance; that drivers are properly licensed, and so on.

The new ordinance goes into effect this coming July 1st.

Walker says atleast six different companies are currently providing taxi service in Arnolds Park.
