Arnolds Park Considering Law Enforcement Surveillance Cameras

January 11, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park City Council is considering a funding request from law enforcement to purchase and install two surveillance cameras. Police Chief Al Krueger tells KUOO news they would be installed on a portion of Broadway Avenue that sees a high volume of incidents, especially late at night in the summer…

Krueger says having the cameras would be a big benefit to law enforcement…

Krueger adds it would also give police an advantage in court proceedings…

City officials say they have used video off of Iowa Department of Transportation cameras along Highway 71 in Arnolds Park to assist in other investigations.

Krueger says provided the council approves the funding, the new cameras likely wouldn’t be installed until later this coming summer as the money would come out of the upcoming fiscal year budget, which won’t go into effect until this coming July 1st.
