Arnolds Park Awarded “Branching Out” Grant

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The city of Arnolds Park has been awarded a 2,450-dollar grant through Alliant Energy’s and Interstate Power and Light Company’s “Branching Out” program.

The grant will be used to purchase trees to be planted around the concession area at the ball field in Arnolds Park.

The trees will be planted by Team WAVE–Willing Active Volunteers for the Environment.

The volunteer group has planted over 200 trees in Arnolds Park over the last four years, along with several hundred shrubs, grasses and flowers.

Team WAVE has been in existence since the state widened Highway 71 through Arnolds Park with its beautification project along West Broadway Avenue.

“Branching Out” is a nationally-recognized grant program. It’s a joint effort involving Alliant Energy, Trees Forever and local community leaders.

The city of Spirit Lake was awarded 2,400-dollars through the same program earlier this year.
