(Des Moines)– Three young women from northwest Iowa are among those participating in an event today (Wednesday) at the Iowa capitol to learn what it’s like to be a lawmaker.
Among those selected to participate from our area are Brianne Hassman and Hanna Zinn, both of Spencer; and Avery Noelle Kats of Sheldon.
The initiative, known as “Capitol Girls”, is offered through the Girl Scouts of Iowa. It’s designed to help girls in grades 9-12 develop personal leadership skills while experiencing government in action.
The girls will be introduced to both the Iowa Senate and House of Representatives.
