(Spencer)– Area utilities say they’ve been seeing an increase in water main breaks recently.
Officials with Spencer Municipal Utilities say they’ve experienced four broken water mains so far just this week. Amanda Gloyd, Marketing and Community Relations Director, says they’re working to get them repaired as quickly as possible. She says those affected by the breaks are often put under temporary boil advisories and are notified of that. Gloyd says that adds to the importance of making sure your contact information is up to date.
Officials say variable temperatures are causing the ground to move, resulting in the breaks.
