(Spencer)– Administrators and Superintendents at some area school districts are offering their thoughts on Thursday’s school shooting in Perry.
Area superintendents say they want families to know that school officials are in close contact with local law enforcement, even though the incident in Perry was said to be isolated. They add the safety of students, faculty and staff is their top priority.
Spencer Superintendent of Schools Terry Hemann says they know some students may struggle with the tragic news. He says that district is making school counselors available to assist students as needed.
Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered flags in Iowa be flown at half staff until sunset Sunday, January 7th, in support of students, families, teachers and staff at Perry High School and the Perry community.
