November 22, 2014

(Wallingford)– 10 area fire departments participated in a training day and house burn exercise this past Saturday in Wallingford.

Wallingford Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer says the first part of the day focused on incident command, search and rescue, rapid intervention, rehabilitation, forcible entry and communications.

The second part of the day consisted of a house burn. Firefighters learned pump operations, water shuttling, fire attack, incident command, communications and fire rehab.

Area fire departments that participated included Armstrong, Arnolds Park/Okoboji, Estherville, Gruver, Milford, Ruthven, Sibley, Spirit Lake, Superior and Wallingford.

The exercise also gave area EMT’s an opportunity to sharpen their skills. EMS technicians from Wallingford, Estherville, Lone Rock and Algona participated in that segment of training.
