(Sioux City)– The 3A Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications to fill a vacancy resulting from the retirement of District Court Judge John P. Duffy.
Those wishing to apply must fill out a questionnaire and return it by 5:00 p.m. July 31st. Copies are available from any Clerk of Court in Judicial District 3A. Each applicant must send a digital copy to Leesa McNeil, District Court Administrator.
Interviews will be held August 8th at the Clay County Courthouse in Spencer.
Names of the applicants will be available to the public after the deadline for filing nominations.
Applicants must be members of the Iowa Bar Association, a resident of the Judicial District 3A and be of such age to serve an initial and one regular term of office before reaching the age of 72.
Judicial District 3A includes Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola and Palo Alto counties.
The commission will submit the names of two nominees to Governor Branstad who will then appoint a nominee.
Members of the commission include William Farnham of Algona, John Goede of Spencer, Grace Ivey of Storm Lake, Dr. Cody Hoefert of Rock Rapids, Jan Bowles of Spirit Lake, Scot Bauermeister of Estherville, Ann Gales of Algona, Thomas Whorley of Sheldon, David Jennett of Storm Lake, Katie Morgan of Storm Lake and Patrick Carr, chairperson, of Spencer.
