Applications Being Accepted For Youth In Philanthropy For Upcoming School Year

(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation is accepting applications for its Youth in Philanthropy program for the 2023-’24 school year. Applications can be found at https://okobojifoundation.org/yip/. The program is open to high school students (freshmen through senior) in Dickinson county. Students who have applied in the past are encouraged to re-apply. Up to 25 students will be selected.

Students receive community service hours for participation. A scholarship fund has been established that awards up to two scholarships each year to eligible seniors who apply. The scholarship is awarded based on participation, fundraising and community development.

Youth in Philanthropy was created in 2010 to empower and challenge area youth to identify community needs and build a sense of responsibility while teaching the next generation the importance of community giving. Since its founding, 205 students have participated in the program, Over $585,000 has been raised by students with over $475,000 granted to Lakes Area nonprofit programs.
