(Arnolds Park)– Applications are being accepted for the Youth in Philanthropy program for the upcoming school year. Ali Schmitz of the Okoboji Foundation tells KUOO news this will mark the 12th year for Youth in Philanthropy…
“It’s initiative is to empower and challenge our area youth in that they find and identify the need of what our community needs and the social responsibilities while teaching that generation the importance of giving back to our community and how to make that impact. In this group, our Youth in Philanthropy has started for 12 years now and the group meets on Wednesdays once a month from October through April, and we’re really looking forward to students applying this year and starting this group for 2022 and 2023.”
Schmitz says Okoboji, Spirit Lake and Harris-Lake Park High School students are eligible to apply. She says a total of 25 students will be selected…
“We feel that 25 is a great amount of students to keep that group inclusive and really focused on the importance of community giving and building that social responsibility with that amount of people.”
Applications are available at the Okoboji Foundation’s website. Applications are being accepted through Friday, September 10th.
