(Arnolds Park)– Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue will hold a fundraiser as well this holiday weekend. Department member Duane Zahradnik tells KUOO news they’ll be holding their 37th annual Labor Day Auction Monday, September 4th, beginning at 1:00 pm at the Barefoot Bar at Parks Marina…
“We have some neon signs, we have a couple of Yetti coolers, we have like a John Deere pedal tractor, we also have a hunting blind, it’s like a $3,000 value. We have lots of gift cards. All of these things are going to be auctioned off live. Greg from Natress Auction has donated his time again this year and the auction will start promptly at 1:00 pm Monday at the Barefoot Bar, at the tiki bar.”
Zahradnik says the proceeds will go toward the Lakes Area Fire Boat…
“This boat is a magnificent tool in the lakes area. It can suppress fires. It also has a rescue door which is four inches off the water. If we have a victim in the water we don’t have to pull them over the side, we just open the door, pull them inside inside of stokes basket. On the fire suppression side of it we can supply tankers, we can supply engines. We can pump 1,500 gallons per minute with this boat.”
Zahradnik says they’re still accepting donations for the auction. Anyone wanting more information should contact him at 712-330-3509.
