AP Council Takes No Action On Request For Assistance From HAPI On Drainage Issue

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park city council Wednesday took no action on a request for financial assistance from the board of directors of Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated to help solve a drainage problem east of the amusement park.

John Adams, the council’s representative on the HAPI board, said in addition to other work, two rain gardens are being proposed to address a run-off problem near Bob’s and Fillenwarth Beach South. It’s resulted in the bike trail in that area being undermined from time-to-time.

Adams said the project has an estimated cost of 50-thousand dollars. Half of that is being covered through a grant.

While no specific amount is being requested from the city, Adams said the HAPI board is requesting the city contribute. He added the board is applying for additional grants.

But atleast one council member said he wants to know just how much, if at all, the city is contributing to the drainage problem before they commit to a dollar amount.
