(Arnolds Park)– The Jerry Dyhrkopp Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society will hold their annual Boat Show on Saturday on the Docks at Arnolds Park Amusement Park on Saturday. Chapter President Wiley Mayne II says, the show will run from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm…
“This is going to be the 42nd annual. We’ve been organized for a little bit longer because we had to skip a few years for high water. This year we have 27 boats pre-registered, plus I know there’s about eight more that have committed to coming plus whatever shows up the day of, so it should be a really nice turnout this year. It is all free, open to the public. Vettes in The Park is also going on at the same time there will be a lot of cool stuff to see down there. And we want to give a big thanks to Jensen Real Estate who is sponsoring our show this year and helped us with a lot of the marketing. We really appreciate their support.”
He adds that the Boat Parade will start around 2:30…
“At 2:30 we’ll leave from the docks at Arnolds Park led by the Arnolds Park Fire and Rescue boat, and then our partners at the DNR will close down traffic temporarily at the bridges at about 2:30 and then we’ll pass through real quick. So if you’re around, go stand down on the old railroad trestle and watch the boats go under and then we’ll be out of there hopefully pretty quickly so we don’t cause too much of a delay in traffic through the bridges.”
He notes that the public can vote on their favorite boat this year…
“There will be signs at the beginning of each dock where the boats are parked with a Q R code, and if you can’t get the Q R code to work there’s a web address that you can go on and vote for your boat. We’re going to do a crowd choice and announce it on our Facebook page later in the day to see who everyone’s favorite boat was.”
