(Estherville) The Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center on the Iowa Lakes Community College Estherville campus, will open the 2025-26 performing arts season with Eden Ehm. Jessie Strom, who is in the Performing Arts Center promotions and operations department talks about what to expect at this show…
“Eden Ehm is coming October 23rd on Thursday at 7:00 pm. She’s from Decorah Iowa and she plays the Hardanger fiddle, which is a very unique instrument. It’s not just a fiddle, it’s Norwegian culture and it has these extra strings on it that create kind of sympathetic sounds. They go through the bridge on the violin and under the fret board so you play the standard four strings on top and then the other strings vibrate based on what you’re playing so you get this drone sound that’s just unique to the Hardanger fiddle.”
Strom talks about the other three shows in this year’s performing arts series…
“We have Glenn Henriksen along with Father Kelly and Father Hemann and that coming up November 16th. They have Bill Hansen who is going to do some vocals for them. So they’re having a lot of fun putting together a set and that’s November 16th and then in February we have Peter Bergen who is doing a ragtime piano show and on March 5th we’ll have Tommy Ryman doing stand up comedy for us.”
Tickets for Eden Ehm are just $15. Children pre-k through 12th grade and Iowa Lakes students get in for free. You can also purchase a season ticket for $50 that includes all four shows. Tickets can be purchased iowalakes.edu and then click on the performing arts center link.
